Basenji Companions: the Club Devoted to Pet Basenjis

Tap into advice from the experts on some of the health issues that affect Basenjis. Dr. Gonto developed the supplement treatment for Fanconi that is the Fanconi Syndrome Veterinary Protocol. Dr. Breitschwerdt answers questions about the intestinal disease IPSID. Gregory Acland describes the symptoms, history, and diagnosis of PRA, a disease affecting your dog's vision. Jennifer Yearley, DVM, provides information on thyroid, tooth brushing, and lumps & bumps. Other experts include our members. They have provided tips and information based on their experience caring for their pet, and saying goodbye when the time comes. Become a member and tap into this pool of resources through our egroups mailing list.

We also try to provide some advice on preventing problems. Basenji-proof your home so that your curious dog doesn't get into things they shouldn't. If you missed the advice for preventing a lost dog, then follow our detailed plans to find your missing pet. Be sure to be extra careful on holidays such as the Fourth of July. Prevent nasty cleanups by eliminating possible sources of Giardia. And during the holidays, be careful of the mistletoe and other booby traps for your dog. And you need to be prepared with options for the care of your dog, whether going on vacation or in case of a serious illness or accident. We do our best to help you keep your pet safe, healthy and happy.
