Fanconi

Fanconi is a condition, especially common in Basenjis, where the renal tubules of the kidney begin to fail to do their proper job of resorbing nutrients. Without treatment, the internal organs begin to falter and the dog will ultimately die. Fortunately there is a simple test that owners can do at home that can provide an early warning. Fanconi can be confused with other diseases so additional tests are needed to verify a diagnosis.
